Bravo

Last night was one of the best nights to view Mars. I got home around 7:30 pm, Pat about 11:00 pm, & we ended up trying - TRYING - to see Mars. We "saw" it - with our nekkid eyes - (which IS pretty amazing for this humid, steamy area of the country), but.........not good enough.

I have two telescopes. Both have decent quality lenses. One is like a mini-Pirate type, and good for bird watching. The other is a serious hobbyist scope that requires a tripod and A LOT of patience. FINDING, and HOLDING a small planet, until you can lock up the tripod, is tougher than reaching into a tidepool, and catching a minnow.

I'd had too much caffeine that day. My nerves were fiery, muscles twitchy, and patience low. I gave up when mosquitos found my legs. Damn! I'll try again tonight - fully clothed, and decaf'd.

The Betty Page Momentous Woman came in. She didn't have the money for all the original Betty stuff, so she got one magazine from 1951. I could tell she was disappointed in her current situation. She paid entirely in one dollar bills. (A sure sign she's a waitress.) She asked for it in a discreet bag.

We talked awhile. She was wearing her Betty haircut, her Whoever nose ring, a great 60's cotton sun dress, and carrying a little girlie-purse from about the same time. Very cool (although I can do without the nose ring accessory).

She wasn't going anywhere in particular that would have defined her outfit. She was simply out for the day, knew what she liked, and to hell with anyone else.

I love that.

Bravo.
